We are happy to introduce you to our new apprentice, Sam Hirst, who joined the C E Bennett & Sons’ team on the 6th September 2021 – learning invaluable skills and experience on-site to contribute to his Mechanical Engineering & Fabrication apprenticeship programme. 

We pride ourselves on providing first-class mechanical service installation solutions nationwide – this allows us to nurture Sam’s passion for welding and support him throughout his apprenticeship journey. 

Sam is the third apprentice to carry out practical training at C E Bennett’s, and we have certainly been impressed with his enthusiasm to learn since he started. Spending every Monday at college, he works with us Tuesday through to Friday every week, to put his classroom skills into practice. 

When he isn’t shadowing one of our highly skilled welders, he is given the independence to learn new skills such as measuring, reading drawings and choosing materials. He also is given the opportunity to practice specialist techniques such as cutting, drilling, welding and pressure testing. 

We asked Sam what is enjoying most and what he thinks he brings to the C E Bennett family. Sam commented – 

 “Welding is certainly my favourite part of the job, learning techniques that have been developed and perfected by C E Bennetts over the years and putting them into practice. I particularly enjoy going out on-site and being a part of all aspects of the fabrication process from start to finish. I not only bring a youthful outlook to the team but also enthusiasm to work and learn every day.” 

Three years away from receiving his Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering, Sam is showing great potential to succeed in a career in manufacturing engineering and we are honoured to be a part of his journey and watch his skills develop.
